Island Coral and Rally Pretty Pink

Two pretty complimentary colors...OPI- Rally Pretty Pink and Sinful Colors- Island Coral.  I sooo love the color combinations with these two.  I don't know why it make me want sushi but it does.  Rally Pretty Pink sort of set the tone...its such a lovely duo chrome interchanging between gold purple and sort of a mauve pink.

Island Coral reminds me of salmon and lobster or is it that I'm just hungry.  Well I gotta go and get my food out of the microwave now and prepare for tomorrows work day and also do my nails tonight because they look absolutely horrid and neglected.

Toodles!!!!!

What the E.L.F. is that???

Well who would have Thunk-it (ebonically speaking)!  Walgreens is slowly winning me over with the broadening of their cosmetic and beauty products particularly the one located on 55th Lake Park (Hyde Park-Chicago, IL) and this time was no different.

I originally went in during my lunch break to see if they had the Fergie Collection by Wet-N-Wild and not to my surprise they did - but I ended up not getting anything because I pretty much had all the colors and nothing really stood out to me.  However, I did end up picking up Leap Frog by Sinful Colors which will be in another post.

Well anyway I went back again after work and came across what I thought I was reading wrong but it was in fact true; they had E.LF. Cosmetics 5 piece lip gloss set and a 32 piece eye shadow kit in warm.  The other thing that smacked me in the face and made me blush was that the price was only $5 bucks for each kit.

I hurried up and snatched the eye shadow kit because it was the one left.  I usually don't get the last of anything because I feel like it's picked over- but oh well it turned out fine.

I love warm palettes because they are neutral colors and you can pretty much pair them with any outfit.

Below are more pictures - I will swatch them later but the few that I did were very pigmented and didn't seem to be chalky at all.

Now on the lip gloss - this is going to be really quick because I am a rambler and I tend to keep going and going and going....LOL.

I can say that I actually like the lip gloss and the consistency.  It' not to thin or too thick and it doesn't coat up on your lips to the point where you have what I call Muppet strings forming on your lips while you're talking.

I like these better than M.A.C. (boy I can see yall heads turning on that one). I don't know what up with the M.A.C. Lip Glass but it leaves a white coating and gritty mess on my lips after a couple hours of wear.  My hand downs favorite gloss would be Mary Kay Moisture Shine glosses they are absolutely wonderful and pigmented  The colors in the set from left to right are:

  • Pink Pop (it's more a nude color)
  • Flirt - Pretty pink
  • Guava - Coral tint
  • Houston - Mauve
  • Cherry - A sheer red
The only one I've tried so far is Flirt and I loved it on my lips...most of these I will be pairing over a lipstick an the smell of them all are wonderful.  They are buildable with the exception of Cherry.  I will be sure to update you all as I wear them.

Well I've given you more than enough to read but if you run across these in Walgreens be sure to pick them up.  Oh yeah prices may differ between Walgreens - I had to throw that in there.

A Bang for your Buck - L.A. Colors Splendid

L.A. Colors purchased @ Local Family Dollar @ $1.00 (2 coats)
KleanColors Starry Purple purchased @ Local Beauty Supply  @ $1.00 (1 coat)
(click photo for larger view)
What's a girl to do when she's bored besides paint her nails.  I wanted something subtle and muted and boy did I get it.  I have to admit I wasn't expecting the outcome but I'm glad I picked up this color.

Splendid is a metallic to chrome like polish alternating between lavender and a soft pink.  I applied two coats and layered my index and ring finger with one coat of  KleanColors Starry Purple.

I must admit that the smell of Starry Purple is really loud and I recommend using it in a well ventilated area...I don't know why the polish smells so bad but I'm glad that it was only a dollar because I don't know if I'll be able to use too often.

It's not only for your Booty but also your Beauty

I was totally in awe when I came across Lyrics YouTube Channel "JamaicanMakeupArtist".  I must admit it was hard to watch at first due to her strong Jamaican Accent but I made due.  I was researching face primers and a video of hers popped up only to catch me off guard as I tuned in to see what she was about.

Little did I know and was floored when she pulled out a bottle of Phillips Milk of Magnesia and began priming her face with it.  I couldn't believe it at first and I really thought she was fooling around- but as I watched several of her videos thereafter I knew I had to try it and boy does it work at least for women who have combination to oily skin.

The first time I tried it I couldn't help but laugh as I was applying it thinking to myself I had a shitty face mask...LOL (I crack myself up!).  Well anyway check out one of her many makeup tutorials and let me know what you think - and most definitely let me know if you are bold enough to try it. You can check out more of Lyric's videos by viewing her channel at the following link:
Oh yeah be careful not to get it in your mouth - I wouldn't want you to get the runs...LOL!

Faux-Nail Wrap

So I purchased these Kiss Nail Dress Wraps awhile ago and to be honest I am still a little nervous to use them.  They were on clearance at my Local Walgreen for a $1.99 so I couldn't pass them up.

Purchased @ Walgreens
On Clearance for $1.99

I recently came across another style but didn't want to buy them because I felt like I could recreate the look with polish and some glitter and wanted to just play around a little bit due to boredom.

China Glaze - Jamaican Out

Two (2) coats plus top coat
Purchased @ Sally's Beauty Supply $2.99
I was worried about this color at first thinking that it would be too bright for my skin tone but it's actually a beautiful coral.  However, I was highly disappointed that I waited to my son went to sleep before getting started - only to have major bubbles in my top coat when I woke up this morning...it's so bad that I will be removing it after only one day of wear.

I wanted to do some stamping over this color but it looks like I'll have to try it at another time because these darn bubbles are working my nerves...if it wasn't sooo many it wouldn't be soo bad!  Oh well I guess I'll just have to get over it.

Overall, the application was smooth sailing and went on very smoothly with no streaking or fuss.

It must be a hot color because LOOK it matches my Dr. Pepper...LOL!!!!
