My Glowing Camo Nails - Soooo Easy

Where do I begin with this color!  I absolutely love this color!  I think this color is so freaking unique and different just like me (NOT TO SOUND VAIN BUT HA!).  I don't even know where to begin trying to describe this color but what I do know is that I got alot of compliments on it.

I wore the color alone for a couple of days - I think a total of two before I got bored and waned to jazz it up.  I had been wanting to play with my nail foils for quite a while now; for some reason I keep feeding myself excuses but yet I find time to paint my nails every two days or so.  The thought of experimenting with them always haunted me - for some reason I thought they wouldn't come out right but I'm tripping because I watched a thousand tutorials on how to apply them.

The real reason is that if I made a mistake or the foil didn't stick I would totally get disgusted and remove the polish from all my nails and start over or with just a base color or would totally leave them alone for the night and I have too much damn polish to have naked nails.

I went into my foil container which holds approximately 15 various colors and patterns and chose something that would compliment the base color.  I chose this camouflage pattern which complimented the base color.

I applied them to three fingers on each hand after applying a thin coat of of foil glue and letting the glue dry for approx. three minutes.  Once the glue was transparent in color I applied the foil and rubbed my dotting tool all over the foil making sure it adhered to o the nail properly.  I was totally amazed that they all came out right but I wasn't quite done there.  I wanted to glow a little so I applied a iridescent halo polish to them and I was freaking happy.

I will definitely be playing with my foils a little bit more now especially since I have overcome my fear of ruining my manicure. I don't know why I'm so hard on myself it just freaking damn nail polish (I really wanted to use the other "F" word but I'll be a lady tonight).

Anyway here's the colors and brands I used:

Base Color:  SinfulColors- Leap Frog $.99
Halo Top Coat:  Essie Luxe Effect- Shine of the Times $8.00
Base Coat:  Pro-FX Fiberized Ridge Filler $5.97
Top Coat: Seche Vite - Fast Drying Top Coat $6.00

The picture on the left was taken about four days after applying foil.  The picture on the right was taken the day I applied the nail foils after where the base color a couple of days.  So this manicure lasted about a week and a day.  I honestly got bored after wearing it two days but I stuck it out.

My Pinky Fingers

As we all are aware the month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month - I have seen so many nail art photos paying homage to the cause that were absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

I decided that I didn't want to do anything fancy however I did want to pay homage in my own way and that was keeping it really simple.  I would have fried my brain trying to think of a design after viewing over 100+ photos and would have gotten frustrated.

I applied two thin coats - this is a creme polish and one thin coat of Pro-FX fast drying top coat (purchased @ Walmart).

Brand:  Essie
Color:  Mod Square #224
Price:  $8.00

SinfulColors Precious Metals

I thought I would try some of my nail polish I haven't touched which would be about 75% of them; I tend to have my favorites.  I fell in love with this color - not only did it compliment my skin color but it also got me out of my comfort zone.

This particular color is hard to describe...it's like a navy blue with a hint of gray with a foil like finish but not quite.

I don't know you tell me how you would describe it.I will definitely be trying a water marble with this color - i'm just not sure what i'm going to pair it with.

I'm trying to get back in the my zone of blogging again but today I'm totally drained and the little one wants all of my attention.

Bare with me - it will get better

This polish was purchased at Walgreens for .99

Glitter Bomb!!!!

So yesterday I was sooo bored and couldn't sit still - I've done my nails several times now and I want to get the feel of doing other peoples nails because believe it or not it is more complicated especially being a lefty!

The rain came down and boredom kicked in so snatched my daughter up after Love and Hip Hop Atlanta went off and told her to remove her polish so that I can start getting my practice in.  I wanted to try a elaborate design but time (9:50pm) was escaping from me and my mornings start at 4am on Tuesdays so I had to opt for something simple yet colorful.
Products used:

  • Sally Hansen Complete Manicure - Get Juiced (color 400)
  • Sinful Colors - Shine On Me
  • Multicolor glitter pot in Pink and Purple
  • Pink Rhinestones
  • Top Coat
  • Cuticle Oil

SinfulColors - Crystal Clear

Well I think its' truly time for me to commit myself into rehab.  I have searched and reviewed nail blogs, YouTube tutorials and reviews,  and Instagram to the point of no return yesterday - all just to see whats the fuss about in regards to the new SinFulColors Shine Gel Tech Collection.  I fell in love with a blue hue (don't know the name) and work up to stalk Walgreen's at 6am in the local area of my job. I didn't find it but I found this beauty which I'm crazy about.

This color is called Crystal Clear (#1254) - it's loaded with lots of glitter and holographic foil pieces in a clear base which was thicker than their regular polishes. I swatched two nails in my car after my purchase ($2.99) and I am in awe.  These pictures do no justice with the shine and holographic chunks of foil that illuminates from my nails - but I'm quite sure I'll be following up this polish with a nice manicure.

Spring Fling Affair

Well it's been a while since I posted anything but I don't have a reason why I just haven't.  I was watching Love and Hip Hop Atlanta and kept peeping everybody's nails and everyone had very colorful polish, so I decided to add some color to my life and boy was it bright but fun and youthful.

To be honest this was a little to colorful for me because I took it off the following day.  I didn't feel like going to my rack to jot down the colors but I took a picture of them all lined up - if you wanna know the colors let me know and I will do my due diligence and list them for you.

The were cute if I may say so myself!!!!!!!

Water Spot Effect

Today I didn't really have any plans set in stone after work and I didn't feel like going grocery shopping - so I figured why not try the water spot effect as seen on various blogs.  This version is a alternative to OPI's Spotted Top Coat Effect which was not released in the united states and hard to obtain unless you live in the UK.

So without further ado let's get to it.  The first thing you want to do before applying any polish of choice is to apply a base coat - I skipped this step because I knew I would be removing the polish once I was done with this experiment   Secondly, apply your nail color of choice.  I chose Wet n Wild Black Cream.

Next you want to tape off your nails, give your nails enough drying time so that you don't smudge them (I waited about ten minutes before doing so).

Once you have everything taped off you can begin.  The reason I use the tape if because the cleanup process is a hot mess if you don't and the tape eliminates most of the cleanup process.  I started with forming a bulls eye with Sinful Colors Pink Forever.  I used about 8 to 10 drops of polish in the water.  The more you add the brighter the color will be.

Before you begin forming your bulls eye I forgot to mention you need to mix your solution to make the spots in the water.  For this you will need a spray bottle, hand sanitizer and white rubbing alcohol.  I didn't have any hand sanitizer so I improvised and used a bottle of Victoria's Secret body spray that I had over two years because the alcohol content remaining was really high and I added some rubbing alcohol to it and shook it up really good.

When using the spray bottle you want to start maybe six inches away from your cup or bowl whichever one you choose to use.  I also forgot to mention that I used room temperature filtered water.  Make sure your water is room temperature, if its too cold it will not work.

Hit the pump on your spray bottle twice to see how the bubbles begin to form.  You want to stay away from polishes that are too thick or polishes that do not spread in the water (it's all trial and error) - spray until you get your desired effect; again the polish you choose may alter the effect shown in the water. Once you get your desired design dip your nail over it into the water.

Once your nail is in the water start blowing air on the top
surface on the water and use your wood stick or desired tool to remove the access polish off the top surface before removing your nail from the water.  If you shake your nail before lifting it from the water it will prevent air bubbles from ruining your design.

Bam!  Now you are all done...just take your acetone polish remover and clean the edges and perimeter of your nails and apply your top coat and you're done.

I repeated the steps above using Wet n Wild Shine French White and a blue by Sinful Colors.  The white reminds me of a cow pattern and I think that I will be using that color the next time I try this.

After an hour of playing it was time to remove everything and go to bed.  It was easy to remove I only need two cotton balls...it took one to remove all the nails and another one to just go over them because the black base color used.  Overall it was fun but next time I try them I will be adding some glitter to them.

If you try them let me know how it turns out for you.

Lace Brows - Really Though!!!!!!

OK I have officially seen it all!!!!!

So my co-worker and I were conversing today in regards to the hair we purchased at the beginning of the week - I don't know how we jumped from lace fronts to lace brows but we did and I decided to do a little research to see how they were doing on the market.  I actually started this off as a joke but to my surprise LACE BROWS HAS MADE IT TO A MASS MARKET OF FOOLERY NEAR YOU...LOL!!!!!

They say LACE FRONTS WILL MAKE YOU STUNT - EYE LASHES INTERFERE WITH YOUR GLASSES - EYEBROWS WILL MAKE YOU SCOWL!!!! LOLOLOL GOTTA LUV IT!

Well anyway I don't know if you want to laugh or purchase a pair but I have attached a YouTube Video showing you how to apply lace lashes and a link to a site to purchase them as well.

Now don't get me wrong I will never make or poke fun of anyone with a medical condition - trust and believe that is not my intention at all. BUT BABY!!!!!!!!! (in my Drea voice - Andrea from Ex-Wives of Hollywood) If I see some of you with your brows applied like your lace fronts all dismantled on your forehead and/or sitting on the bridge of your nose - how in the hell are you going to apply your brows- I'm just saying it's going to be a Summer of Foolery so ladies and la'dettes (my term for my boy-girls; yall know I love my queens) get your camera's ready Boo Boo... it's going to be a hell of a year LOL.

So below I attached this video from Tiffani Chanel on YouTube - you can also purchase them from her as well  - just click on the information box linked to her video.

Lace brows can also be purchased at Headcovers.com click here to view page they can be purchased at $44.99 a pair for both men and women.

Again this post is not to make or poke fun at anyone who is suffering from any medical condition such as alopecia ,cancer, etc., but some of us our suffering from foolery.

SinfulColors Lippies - Winter '2012 Collection

I feel like I just won the freaking lottery!  I have been searching all over for these babies and I finally found them 13 trips later @ my local Walgreens.

I fell in love with the first collection my favorite being Pucker Up Baby which was the perfect shade of pink for my skin tone click here to view post.

The colors I purchased this time around were:

  • Peach Me
  • Pixie Dust
  • Sugar Cookie
  • Flirt Alert
Some may disagree but these have been compared to MAC's Dazzle Glass Collection and I believe some can be considered dupes.  I like all the colors I purchased my favorite of them all I think is Sugar Cookie.  This collection seem to consist of sheers each of them containing shimmer and are buildable  and non-sticky (which I love by the way). The formula is consistent to the first collection and I must say that I am a happy consumer for the second time around.

These babies were purchase @ $2.99/ea at a Walgreens quite a ways from me and I snatched every color they had left which were sitting in a small container on the counter.  Now if I can only find Pucker Up Baby again I would purchase at least eight of them *I'M DEAD SERIOUS*  Well anyway this made my weekend and I must say i'm a happy girl!

I wanted to give a description of the colors but my little one had too much banana pudding and is jumping off the wall right now so I just included this photo of swatches on my inner arm and included some photos of each color as well.  Ok! I have to sum this up now before child protective services show up at my door.  I want to give him some water to flush his system of the sugar but then we'll have a pissy mess on our hands later.

Well go and grab these lippies if you can find them - you will not be disappointed trust me!  I just hope it doesn't take you as many trips and it did for me to find them!

Deadly Rose

So let's get right to the point - I wanted to do something outside of my norm and so I thought I would try the  gradient glitter design.  I can honestly say that I like the design however I don't particularly care for the base color on my skin tone accompanied with the glitter polish used.

The two polishes I used are:

*Wet n Wild MegaLast - Deadly Rose
*China Glaze - All That Glitters

Deadly rose in my opinion is a lovely gold foil - now that I'm thinking about it I should have done a nail stamping with a olive green or something similar in contrast.  Oh well! Better luck next time.

All that Glitters contains a fuchsia, green and gold micro glitter in a clear base it's nothing really special unless its paired with the right base color besides the typical black. Although looking at my nails the gold base isn't bad I will probably do a few of my nails with a couple of coats to see what it would have looked liked.

Well that's about it for tonight I am still fighting this beast of a cold.  Fighting this cold is like a midget being in a prison shower full of men-feel like such a dick head...LOL!

Below is a collage of a few more pictures - I would have have more of a variety but my son ran off with my phone so there goes that!

Shine Bright Like A Diamond

I am sooo in love with this polish. I believe I used 2-1/2 coats. I was bored and trying to decide on a nail color and wanted a backup just in case I didn't have time to do a full manicure. This is the perfect combo of subtle bling and clear polish. It also reminds me of snowflakes. Oh yeah I'm blogging from my phone..forgive me lol!!!!

Stress Nail aka Brush Stroke Nails

I so love these nails and they were sooo easy to do and no tools were needed besides a toothpick to do the cleanup.

I got the inspiration for these from Sarah of Chalkboard Nails - her blog is off the chain so make sure you click on the link and check her out.

Well let's get right to it - all colors used were by SinfulColors continuing my neon theme.  For my base coat I used two coats of TimbleBerry which is a orange creme with a tint of pink more so on the coral side.

After I applied my base color I used the following colors to apply the brush strokes:

  • Innocent - Neon Lime
  • Dream On - Matte Magenta
  • Rise and Shine - Blue with a hint of Green
  • Ice Ice Baby - Clear base chrome blue glitter

After your base coat is dry or tacky you can began your random brush strokes as I did here:

I was sooo stressed out while I was doing my nails but overall I think they turned out ok....next time I try them I will make sure I get more coverage of the base along the edges.

Dotticure - Sinful Colors

My first Dotticure and it turned out great...I don't like really busy nails so I only went with my ring fingers as accent nails.  I really had fun doing this one and the color combinations are endless.  For this particular one I chose to use my neon colors before Summer is completely over.

If you don't have a dotting tool you can use a toothpick or ink pen...anything with a small
round dot to it...remember the bigger the tool the bigger the dot so you wanna stick with something really small.

For my base colors I chose Sinful Colors Dream On which is a matte magenta. when you apply this polish don't be alarmed after it dries - this polish does not have  a glossy finish you must apply a top coat but only after you're completely finish with you manicure.

On my index fingers I chose Rise and Shine which is a blue with a hue of green - one of those colors that can go either way.  I applied two coats of this polish and it was not matte like Dream On.

For the dots on my accent nails I chose the following colors:

  • SinfulColors Innocent - Neon Lime
  • SinfulColors Dream On - Matte Magenta
Well pretty much that's all I have for you today - give it a try it's really fun and once again you have endless color combinations.

Wigin' It; If you can't make it - fake it!

Well those that know me well no I never go to the shop to get a weave every since I was traumatized with my first weave experience.  I mostly wear detachable hair - very rarely do I get my extensions sewed in. In fact I can re-create just about any hairstyle I like or should I say that interest me and the best part of all is that I can take it off at night if I choose to. I will soon be posting some of my custom creations but for right now I just want to rave about Model Model 3/4" Invisible Part Wig.

I was sooo excited when I found out that they created the U-Part Wig or as they call it the Invisible Part Wig in which you will see in the video below:

To view other styles click here

The wig goes for $23.00 to $25.00 and it is a synthetic unit that is heat safe up to I believe 350 degrees.  One think I can't stand is when people where their hair straight out the box...Please shape your unit to your face - cut and style it to fit you and trust and believe no one will ever know.

I have watched thousands of U-Part Wig Tutorials and half wig tutorials on YouTube from Fabulasityisme ,teasedblackpearlz and Muffinismylovers2012 just to name a few...I could go on and on but I like tend to ramble so I will stop here.

Well anyway I  provided you with these ladies YouTube Channels and now its up to you to do your research.

This unit can be purchased at HairSisters.com  click here to go directly to their site.

I've strayed away from God too long!

I'm sooo tired of being angry and lately seems like I can't catch a break.  Mentally I have secluded myself from my family and friends.  The smile you see is not because I'm happy or enjoying the moment; it's because I'm scared to reveal my pain or hurt.  I feel like I can't trust anyone - at times I just need to call a friend and just vent without them giving me their thoughts or perspective on the situation...just shut up and allow me to speak and just listen; is that asking too much???  My question to you is "What do you do when you feel you have strayed away from God too long?"

I know that God is a forgiving God and he will never leave or forsake me - but I feel like I have strayed away from him too long to be on his priority list.  My grandmother always told me that God is in your heart you just celebrate him in a building.  I took her saying and ran with it - when I actively attended church I felt embrace by God and the spirit that took over the building.  I felt protected with GOD'S LOVE!

Lately it's been a struggle to go back to church.  I love my pastor and his
teachings even though I don't agree with everything that is said or taught and that's ok.  Overall, he is a great messenger of delivering God's messages.  People tend make the statement that "The Devil is Busy", my take on this is, everything can't be blamed on the devil.  I feel like those who have been so called "SAVED" has a Godly conscious which allows you to have a relationship with God himself.  The spirit didn't hit you by accident nor were you forced to make the walk to be delivered.  A spirit presented itself within you and you chose to say "GOD! HERE I AM!"

I know my relationship with God and I can't speak for others but I know God gave me a conscious - When I know I'm doing something I'm not suppose to I  feel guilty.  When I'm doing something right or pleasing I'm rewarded and/or doors are opened that I didn't expect to be unlocked.  God works in amazing ways and I know this.  I know I'm a child of God and honestly I'm only able to stray so far before I feel him pulling at my shoulder asking me "Where do I think I'm Going???"  So everything is not the devils doing: it's your guilty conscious.

I make up sooooo many excuses for not going or making it to church on time - but yet I make it a priority to get up for work on time and going about my day without any excuses.  The MIND is a powerful tool.  Your BRAIN controls your body.  Everything we do or think is processed by the brain which signals the body to process what you are feeding into it.  For example if you tell yourself you don't feel good guess what you don't and all of a sudden you start to feel sick.  When you feel positive energy into your brain you get positive results and when you feed negativity into your brain well you get it I hope.

As I'm sitting here typing this I'm starting to feel like somewhat of a burden has been lifted off my spirit.  For those that know me well writing has always been my outlet and my way of venting.  Initially, I grabbed my laptop for this to be a very nasty and angry posting.  I wanted to cuss and fuss and rant about how I hated those who hurt me and the stress I am currently dealing with in regards to some personal things that are going on right now.
Lyfe sung it best!!!!!  Check it out!

When you are doing something new or for the first time you're initially hesitant or a little scared because you don't want to mess up sort of speak.  Lord knows that I'M learning to obtain something that you never had -you have to do something that you never did.  In the process I'm questioning relationships - My granny always tell me "Everyone you want to be your friend don't want to be friends with you".  The older I get the more I take heed to that statement.

I feel soo much better as I bring this posting to a close.  I'm glad I didn't allow my emotions to cause me to embarrass myself and post something I would later regret allowing negative thoughts and emotions to have control over me.  However, I continue to struggle with my relationship with God.  I know he HE LOVES ME!!!!! I struggle with the pressure of having to be this person of perfection and walk the walk of a so called CHRISTIAN.  I'm sure many will not view this post - but's its ok.  I know someone is going through a similar situation and this posting will find it's way!

Double Dose of Pink Sin - Sinful Colors

I am sooo in love with the lip gloss I can't help but to be a little bourgeois when I put it on...it's Puck Up Baby by SinfulColors which was recently bought out by Revlon.  "Did I say I was in LOVE with this Lip Gloss...LOL".  It's really light and not thick at all and the pigmentation is wonderful.  You only need one swipe across the bottom lip to obtain a full opaque lip...I think this is my favorite to date and for $2.99 you can't go wrong purchasing this product - heck I wouldn't be surprised if the price went up due to the quality of this little jewel.  If I'm not mistaken I believe they have about five or six other colors.  You can view other colors by viewing Shades of Beauty Blog click here.

Another pink favorite of mine is SinfulColors Forget Now which a a pretty rich pink shimmer polish which is totally awesome....I can't say enough about these two....the only thing I will say is grab them both.

I'm Out!!!!!!!!!
