To Build A Bear: Raising A Boy

So I'm sitting in my bedroom watching "Dinosaur Train" with my son as he lay on his stomach with his palms resting under his chin. Watching him, I'm gawking at him amazed at the notion that I HAVE SON! I often reflect on the day I went into Labor with him - the whole experience was amazing from start to finish.  I literally left my baby shower after rushing to make it through opening all my gifts (due to my contractions getting stronger) and drove to the hospital which was directly across the street. I was due to deliver there so it couldn't have worked out any better.

From birth I've been smothering my son with kisses and hugs while tending to his every need including kissing and bandaging all his boo boo's (toddler wounds) along the way.  I FIND MYSELF EXTREMELY OVERPROTECTIVE over him.  He's like the favorite teddy bear that no one can touch!  I love my little man so much but I also know right now at his age of two he's absorbing and learning at a rapid pace.  He's transitioning from the clumsy toddler into my little spartan, full of strength and constantly exploring all things around him.  I don't want him to solely rely on me to always be there to nurture his every need...I WANT HIM TO GAIN HIS OWN INDEPENDENCE and lean how to manage his own feelings...discovering who he is as he transitions into manhood.

I know he has a long way to go before he reaches his adolescence years but living in this hostile world that exists today can cause us parents especially single mothers to shelter our sons- not allowing them to be the little rambunctious boy(s) they are designed to be. It's not easy but I'm taking baby steps allowing him to be adventurous, exploratory and curious without me always intervening. I constantly remind myself that one day he will be climbing trees and I will not be there for every fall. So I'm learning to not react so quickly and allow him to discover who he is as he matures and build confidence in himself.

Gosh he hasn't even played him first football or basketball game and I'm already thinking about him leaving me...LOL!

I CAN'T SAY IT ENOUGH....I JUST LOVE MY LITTLE DUDE!

Got long legs??? Victoria Secrets Denim Sale!

Sometimes being tall can feel like a curse.  I love and embrace my height (5'9") but searching the racks in stores is tedious work when specifically looking to find a 34"-36" inseam. I often visit Victoria Secrets website to check out what they have on clearance.

I'll never pay over $50 bucks for a pair of jeans; and if I do, you better believe i'll have the option of selecting a pair of customized ass pads of any video chick of my choice to insert inside of them LOL....so check out whats available as of now.  I already found two pair I will be purchasing...prices range from $24.99-$44.99.

Happy Shopping!

Instant Lip Balm - Temp. Fix

I don't know about you but I don't go anywhere without my lip gloss...my lips feel so naked without it.  So anyway my boyfriend and I were out at a Bulls Game this past summer - during half time I went to the bathroom to freshen up and blot my face and all that cutesy stuff we do when we think or shall I say we know we are super duper cute (sorry...watching too much Super Why! LOL).

So anyway, as I was taking the cap off my lip gloss my makeup bag was falling out of my purse (I never place it on the makeup counter...I'm a germ-a-phobe) and I dropped it on the floor...pissed at my inability to catch it I was livid and refused to walk around with dry lips...so I became creative and improvised.  I  grabbed my blush and stained my lips only placing a dab on both the top and bottom lip; next, I then took some moisturizing lotion I had in my purse and applied it on both my top and bottom lip.  I have to admit it didn't taste all that great but I DIDN'T CARE...it was a temporary fix and it had the consistency of a lip balm.

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails - Ice Queen #840

So I couldn't find what I was looking for at my local Walgreens but this simple glitter polish made me feel a little better...and the price wasn't bad either @ $1.99

Ice Queen is a really pretty clear base polish with micro silver glitter and blue and purple hex glitter.

  • On my thumb (right) I placed two coats of polish to get a feel for the coverage.  The silver micro glitter gave a nice coating for only two coats. The larger chunks of blue and purple were sparsely placed using the nail brush.
  • On my index finger I used one coat of Wet n Wild Shine Black Creme (424A).  This is an excellent polish providing nice coverage - it definitely competes with some of the more popular brands and provides great shine.  I purchased this polish a couple of months ago due to the rave reviews it received from various blogs I frequent - and can you believe it was only a $1.00 at my local Walgreens.  I used one coat of Ice Queen and loved how well all the glitter showed up...reminds me of the galaxy...LOL!
I will definitely be using this polish mostly for layering.  I did not use a top coat on either nail simply because I was only swatching two nails, overall I am content with my purchase and give it two thumbs up and looking forward to pairing it with various colors complimentary to the hex glitter.
